Sorry I haven't posted in a long time, we have had a bit of a crazy month this December!
As the school season has ended, this month we have started doing catch up classes in FBC in the slums. We have been teaching Maths and English to the kids in that area. It has been a great experience for us and really made us to develop our teaching skills! As always when we visit the slums it is a bit mad with so many excited kids everywhere, so crowd control and man power was definatley our main challenge! We ended up having about 100+ kids and only 2 blackboards so we split them into two classes. Ken and Kathryn taught the older class (about 14-7 years) and I taught the younger ones (from babies to about 7 years!). It was great to get to know the kids better and be able to help them improve their English. It is a project we will be continuing next year for one or two days every week and we will be concentrating on the children that don't go to school and hopefully be able to give them some more one-on-one time as it was hard to do this with classes of 50+ children.

This month we have also been doing Christmas parties at the kids clubs. The first one was at Blessed Word of Life church which is a bit less crazy than the one in the slums. We did face painting, songs, games, dancing and a nativity which we put on and I was Mary! We also had sweets, a cake and gave out toys to the kids at the end. It was great fun and although it is a lot to organise for the volunteers, we really enjoyed it and so did the children!

This Friday we did a Christmas party at FBC kids club in the slums which, as ever, was crazy! We had about 200 kids there and we didn't finish until it was dark. Similarly to Blessed Word, we did face painting, games, songs, dancing, nativity etc. It was great fun again but exhausting! The party marked our final day of this season and we broke up for our Christmas holiday.
